Flickr rant
Last few days I was exploring various ways of looking at images from selected pools on Flickr (from either a friends list or groups). But there is seems to be no good way and Flickr itself provides very rudemental viewing functionality. RSS readers also only do job half way and I’m not too fond of desktop application for this since you need internet connection to view photos anyway so I think web app is way to go. Unfortunately I really do not have time to build something like that right now although everything that is needed is readily avaialable (Flickr has good APIs, lytebox etc).
In two words I want:
- easily see none-cropped thumnails
- be able to open selected photo in large format using something like modified version of lytebox/lightbox
- see selected EXIF information on the photo
- able to add the photo to favorites
- able to quickly comment on given photo
- able to “stamp” the photo with group approved comment template*
- able to invite photo to a selected group
* – many groups have template that you are supposed to use when commenting on photos so authors would know which group the photo was seen (whether this is really good idea or band-aid to Flickr’s infant group functionality is separate topic). I follow many groups and I’m tired of recalling which comment form I supposed to be using. Similar applies to inviting interesting photos to groups.
This is heavy projec but may be someday I will have time to incrementaly implement something like that unless someone else comes up with something better.
